CALIFORNIA CERTIFICATION TRANSFER FROM CALIFORNIA TO TEXAS

Requirements for Transfer from California To Texas (Therapeutic Recreation Specialist)

This is for RTCs who relocate from California to Texas, your certification is transferable to Texas Certification.

  • Applicants considering transferring MUST submit documentation verifying certification in California
  • Submit a copy of your California certificate, card, or certificate
  • Complete the transfer application
  • Name of the University you received your Therapeutic Recreation Degree
  • Submit Therapeutic Recreation work or volunteer experience completed in the last two years

Fees:

  • Transfer Application Fee:   $100.00
    • The application fee must accompany the application.  This fee is non-refundable.  Payment options:  Money order, personal checks, cashier checks, company checks, or credit cards.  Application must be postmarked by the due date, or a $25.00 late fee will be assessed in addition to the $100.00 transfer fee.  You can apply online below.

The credential review panel meets four times a year.

  • March
  • June
  • September
  • December

Recertification applications must be postmarked and mailed to the CTRAC office no later than the first day of March, June, September, or December.  NOTE:  If your application is received after the due date; the application will NOT be reviewed until the next scheduled meeting of the credential review panel.

  • You will receive your new certification certificate within one month of the committee’s review.
